HNNNNNNNNNNGH

I’m exhausted, but I need to practice my monologue some more. I mean. I guess I could go to bed and try to do that in the morning, but I probably can’t sleep. It feels more like the exhaustion where I just can’t have thoughts of worth than the useful kind.

I have to lead class warm-ups, tomorrow, too. I miss shit because I get sick and then everything gets scheduled on the same day and I wear myself out trying to make sure I’m prepared and get sick all over again.

Also, I’m gonna get my period.

Why do you hate whedon and feige? I'm trying to follow the convo from before but I'm lost. All I understood is that Tony Stark got a lot of screen time in The Avengers (which I agree with).

*rubs hands* here we go. i’m so bitter. so, so bitter. sorry for the colourful language ahead. whedon is the one who changed the thor 2 script to add more loki and shorten other scenes. from thor 2’s imdb page:

Joss Whedon was brought in to do uncredited rewrites for a few scenes, including the extremely brief encounter with the stone creature (which was originally a much longer scene) and Loki briefly masquerading as Captain America in a hallway conversation with Thor.’

'for a few scenes' so i wouldn't be surprised if it was his idea (probably feige, too) to completely change the ending after seeing how popular loki is. whedon also can't write asgardians for shit. he made thor into a joke in avengers, his brother was the villain and thor got SECOND TO LAST amount of screen time in the film. and lines like 'he's adopted' wha?t?????? and the fight with iron man, LMAO THOR WOULD FUCKING FINISH IRON MAN IN 2 MINUTES LET ME TELL yOU. in the comics, tony doesn't stand a chance. and yet???? ina venegrs?? thor was powered down SO MUCH???????? joss is just a tony stark fan boy i s2g.

and kevin feige. i’ve talked about this before but on the thor 2 commentary, at the end of the film he literally says the words ‘it was a loki trilogy all along.’ ?mm im? i am jsut??? i cannot believe thi s. i don’t care if he was joking. this man has so much power over how these films turn out and he spouts shit like this. 1) that’s pretty disrespectful to chris and all the hard work he puts into his role as thor the Title Character and 2) it was just fan service. u sound like a member of loki’s army. Thor Deserves Better

Pretty sure Whedon was told that there needed to be a Thor/iron man/cap showdown, and a hulk/Thor showdown, and had to write that in, hence the depowering as there’s no way an actual fight wouldn’t end up with the three crushed between Thor’s beautiful thighs. He was also told that the villain needed to be Loki (which he wasn’t so keen on if I’m not wrong?) not that I’m defending him or anything it’s pretty obvious Thor is not a character Whedon has any kind of interest in or relates too, but then again neither is Loki.

Whedon is actually responsible for the skiff scene in TDW, one of the few actually good moments in the entire movie. I’m actually pretty tired of people blaming him for everything that is wrong with TDW when what was wrong with TDW was there from the very start and then exacerbated by the producer decision to change the ending of the movie. Whedon’s involvement had nothing to do with Frigga being fridged or Jane being written as a fainting noodle with no agency who gives up science for a man. Whedon had no involvement with Erik’s mental illness being a punchline. Whedon had nothing to do with Anthony Hopkins phoning it in and Odin being written so inconsistently.

As for them being depowered, Thor was depowered in Thor 1. There was an executive decision made before Thor 1 even started that they were not gods, they were aliens and less powerful than the comic versions. Again, that was something completely out of Whedon’s hands.

Sure there were a couple of lines that were OOC for laughs in Avengers, Thor and Loki both have them, that bug but for the most, he wrote them well. He cared about the brotherly connection. He made Thor intelligent. I seriously do not understand the Joss hate when it comes to Thor and Loki. Yes, I am disappointed Thor wasn’t a more important part of the Avengers, but you know what? He never is the focus of the team or the most important member. It’s an issue with Marvel overall and the way they present the team.

I think Whedon is just a popular punching bag on tumblr. For the same reason most of tumblr’s favorite punching bags are, and I’ll give you a hint—it’s not because he’s an awful writer.

Yes, the adopted line in Avengers was terrible. That is Whedon’s major weakness—going for the punchline at times when it just isn’t necessary. And yet, that single line, and the fact that Tony is obviously his favorite, are the only things that are really said to his detriment. And quite frankly, if that is all you can come up with, he did a fucking amazing job. He gave us not one, not two, but three great confrontations between Thor and Loki in Avengers. But nobody talks about that because WOW HE MADE ONE MISTAKE. And literally every writer/artist/creative in the field has a favorite character. It’s not always going to be the same as yours. That does not make them “disrespectful,” JFC. Nobody is going around saying, “I hate Thor. Why do we even have to have him in these movies? Gosh, what a drag.”

And the super ironic thing is that I just said going for the punchline in lieu of serious character development is Whedon’s weakness. And yet, that summed up the Thor 2 script pretty damned well long before they ever brought Whedon in. It’s also pretty stupid to blame him for things like the Thor/Iron Man fight in Avengers and the changed ending of Thor 2. He wrote those scenes, yes. Because he was told to by the higher-ups who dictate that sort of thing. Was that “higher-up” Fiege? I don’t know. But I do know that the writers and directors at Marvel are not given the freedom and leeway that they would be given on other projects. They say, “Hey, Joss. We really like your writing. Now here is what we want you to write,” and he does it. And I’m fucking glad it’s him they’re going to. Because if they gave a lot of other industry writers as little time to retcon Loki’s death as they gave him, it would likely have been an even bigger disaster.

Edit: Dammit, Kim. You edited while I was writing and now it looks like I’m parroting you. =(

WHOSOEVER HOLDS THIS HAMMER, IF SHE BE WORTHY, SHALL POSSESS THE POWER OF THOR.

I think this pretty much proves Busiek’s interpretation Mjolnir’s enchantment which is not just a question of who or who isn’t worthy to wield Mjolnir but who is worthy and when are they worthy enough to wield the hammer, which means an individual isn’t exactly always worthy (hence why Natasha couldn’t budge the hammer until she could and how Superman in JLA/Avengers could wield Mjolnir until he couldn’t anymore).
